Working with literary texts in the classroom
Literature is a powerful teaching material in EFL. It helps our students to develop their reading skills & aesthetic pleasure, triggers contact with the language from a different angle through creative writing and fosters a personal response to the texts. The fact that literary texts build bridges among cultures and allow for a variety of interpretations makes them appropriate for the development of critical thinking skills and (inter)cultural communicative competence. In this workshop we will explore ways to work with literature in the classroom and discuss/carry out a variety of activities that can be used in class to engage our students in the reading process.
Bridging the gap: Technology and the EFL classroom
Computers have become part of our students’ daily lives. More and more students are eager to use this tool and we, teachers, cannot turn a blind eye to this. On the contrary, we must try to incorporate technology to our curriculum and make the best use of it. This session is a good opportunity to explore and start implementing different applications and web 2.0 tools which will enhance learning in the EFL classroom.

Integrating Technology into Education: minimum energy, maximum profitability.
Today’s teachers tend to be overloaded with responsibilities: planning, teaching, correcting, exploring new tools, attending face-to-face or online training... the lot. Whenever a new technology pervades our world, we tend to assume it will ease our lives, but does it really work this way? In practice, how can we take advantage of technological advance, so that it helps us teachers extract the maximum profitability at the lowest possible cost? Which is the mindframe that this entails?
